Nehru House

“The strongest factor for success is self- esteem;

  Believing you can do it,

  Believing you deserve it,

  Believing you will get it.”

The desire to win was the driving force of the Blue House. This was the reason why all my team members – Mrs. N. Pandey, Mrs. S. Ojha, Mrs. L. Lal, Ms. Q. Fatma, Mr. N. Latius, Mrs. R. Wesley and Mr. Eric constantly supported and motivated all the students of Nehru House to put in their best and participate with great  enthusiasm in all the events and other house activites.

On 19 August, 2016 was the investiture ceremony and I, along with Payal Arora of class X-A, Captain of the House and Deeksha Dwivedi of IX-C, the Vice-Captain, was vested with the responsibility of the House and with my team member pledge to perform all our duties to the best of our abilities.

The activities began, like every year, with Inter-House competitions. We had English Fest to start with, which was comprised with various events in it. Inter House Declaration was a new event added this year in which Nadia Naseem of class VIII-C showed her excellent oratorial skills and secured the first position. Adarsh Tiwari of VIII-C from Group-A and Aman Ali from Group-B bagged the first and position deserves a special mention for creative writing.

      Although, Archit Rastogi of UKG-A stood third and Vivek Singh of I-B stood runner up in the Inter House Junior Group Elocution competition, yet the show put up by our little ones was praise worthy.

     In the battle of verbal wits ensued amongst the contestants in Inter House Debate, Mahi Srivastava from the Junior Group of VII-A stood third position and from Senior Group- Shreshta Malviya of X-A and Tanzeel Ahmad of IX-C made the House proud by securing first and third position.

     “The secret of success is to do the common things uncommonly well.” The next event was Hindi Debate and an outstanding Performance was put up from the senior group- Shreshtha Malviya who secured first position.

  The next in line was Inter House Art and Craft competition, where Nadia Naseem once again bagged the first prize in the poster making. Second and third position was secured by Sonu Yadav of IX-A and Anjali Caturvedi of IX-B in Collage Making competition and Rishika Kesarwani of VI-A deeply thrilled us by giving a reason to celebrate and rejoice when she stood second position in the Flower Making competition.

Next lined up was Athletic  Meet where in Junior Section 50m event, Anyan Tripathi of V-C stood first position in the boys group and Divyani of V-A stood third position in the girls group.

In 100m event race, Yash Kesarwani of VI-B in boys group and Anshika of VI-B in girls group both came second in position. In senior 100m race Md Adil of IX-A and Shreshtha Malviya of X-A made us proud again by bagging the first and third position in boys and girls group.

In 200m race, Sandeep of X-C and Payal Arora of X-A both grabbed the second and place. Our supremacy in sprinting was evident as we secured the first position in the senior 4X100 Relay Race- Girls Group by Payal. Swarmim, Shreshtha and Falak of class X and Adil, Danish , Subhankar of X and Ankit of IX brought laurels to the house by securing second position.

Then to follow was the most awaited event football tournament where  we had to be satisfied with the second position, despite of neck to neck and man to man performance shown by the boys but missed it by a single point.

Chess is a game which needs a master mind. Aman Ali of X-C gave an impressive performance but we had to be content with the third position.

And after all these sporting events came the science competition. The effort and talent of Nadia Naseem of VIII-C, Tanzeel Ahmad of IX-C and Md Arsh IX-A were appreciated and had to be content with the overall third position.

Each participant gave their mesmerizing performance and this was the outcome of the hard work and dedication shown by every member of the Blue House, Although we did not bagged all the prize but the respect and sportsmanship exhibited by this house compensated for the few loses and when I look at Gilbert K. Chesterton’s words – “How you think when you lose determines how long it will be until you win.” So we team member of Blue House see the first position just around the corner.
